Giuseppe Paolo
Research Scientist at Huawei's Noah's Ark Lab
I am a Research Scientist at Huawei's Noah's Ark Lab in Paris. PhD in Computer Science/Machine Learning from Sorbonne University in 2021. The PhD was conducted at ISIR in Sorbonne University, under the supervision of Stéphane Doncieux, and at AI-Lab in Softbank Robotics Europe, under the supervision of Alban Laflaquière. My thesis addressed the problem of sparse rewards in Reinforcement Learning through Quality Diversity methods.
Before this, I got my Bachelor Degree at Politecnico di Torino in electronic engineering and then a Master of Science in Robotics, Systems and Control at ETH Zurich. I have been visiting researcher at RAM-Lab in HKUST and at IBM Research Zurich.
I co-organized the Evolutionary RL workshop at GECCO 2021 and 2022 and co-edited the “Evolutionary Reinforcement Learning” Special Issue for the ACM TELO journal.
My research interests are Model Based Reinforcement Learning, Quality-Diversity Algorithms and Embodied AI.
